Letter: Willie Nelson succeeds, doing it ‘My Way’

If you are a lover of pop standards and country western music, then run, don’t walk, and pick up a copy of Willie Nelson’s latest CD titled “Willie Nelson: My Way” on Legacy Records. The incomparable Willie (at age 85) has chosen 11 songs made popular by Frank Sinatra, and the result is quite surprisingly grrrreat, as Tony the Tiger would say.

Willie, sounding as good as ever, gives an “easy listening” feel to some of Sinatra’s hits, accompanied by a big band and some with a small combo.

My personal favorites, “Night and Day,’ “Fly Me to the Moon,” “It Was a Very Good Year” — heck, they’re all wonderful renditions served up in this entertaining, respectful tribute to Frank Sinatra by Willie Nelson, and I for one am so glad he is still with us.
