Wreath, mum and plant sales coming up

On Oct. 6, the Salisbury Symphony Guild launches its first fundraiser of the concert season, selling fresh evergreen wreaths for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

The wreaths are handcrafted by a North Carolina artisan who grows his own Fraser fir trees in the western part of the state. Each wreath is made to order, ensuring this traditional holiday decoration will be fresh, fragrant and long lasting.

Bryce Kepley, owner/proprietor of Pinetops Farm, home of some of the area’s best locally-grown Christmas trees, is the Guild’s liaison with the craftsman.

Wreaths are available in two sizes and are competitively priced:  12 inches, for $25 each, and 16 inches, for $40. While most home owners opt for the foot-wide wreath, the larger version is often preferred for shops and businesses. An outsized ribbon bow in red, silver, gold or holiday motif also is available for an additional $5.

This fundraiser is a favorite of Salisburians, who not only buy the wreaths for their own use, but also as hostess, teacher, shut-in and client gifts.  One hundred percent of the profits are allocated to the Symphony’s children’s music education program.

Orders can be placed at the Symphony’s first concert at Keppel Auditorium on Oct. 6 or by calling Angie Smith, guild treasurer, at 704-647-8216 or Ann Meredith, guild past-president, 704-645-8300. Nov. 30 is the last day to order.

The wreaths will be delivered to the city and available for pickup on Nov. 30.

Established in 1977, the mission of the Salisbury Symphony Guild is to promote and support the Salisbury-Rowan Symphony Society and its music education opportunities.  This mission is carried out through financial gifts, fund-raising events, support of education programs and promotion of the Symphony in the community.
