SALISBURY — The local Rowan Moms in Prayer group, a local chapter of the international movement, will host a prayer gathering on Saturday at the Hurley Family YMCA.

The event, which will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m,. is for current members and would-be members and will be held in the Y board room and will include lunch. The meeting will be a time of fellowship, prayer and encouragement as the school year continues.

The worldwide ministry, which is devoted to covering every child and school in prayer, began in 1984 when a British Columbia mom felt a burden to pray for her children with another mom. The ministry is headquartered in Poway, Calif., and has prayer groups in over 140 countries.
