Part of Mocksville Ave. closing for berm placement Wednesday

Update: There has been a delay in obtaining the necessary materials for this project. The road closures will be delayed one day. This road is open today but will follow the planned closures for tomorrow.

Salisbury Traffic Engineering has advised that Novant Rowan Medical Center will hire a contractor to install a temporary berm along Mocksville Avenue to protect their facility from potential flooding due to the heavy rains expected from Hurricane Florence.

The contractor will begin closing the portion of Mocksville Avenue between Rutherford Street and Barker Street at about 8 a.m.

Once finished with that portion, it will be re-opened and they will close the portion from Barker Street to Mahaley Avenue/Confederate Avenue. The work is expected to take most of the day but will be completed prior to 5 p.m.

The contractor is responsible for set up work zone and detour signage. This closure is only required for tomorrow.  The sidewalk on this side of the street will remain closed until the berms are removed.
