History Club To Meet September 11
The Rowan History Club will meet Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m. at the Rowan Museum. The program, “The World Trade Center, My Story,” will be presented by Andrew Walker. Andrew was born in Leeds, England, graduated from the University of Birmingham with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in Rock Mechanics & Excavation Engineering. He worked as a Civil Engineer for forty years before retiring as President of Nicholson Construction, a nationwide specialist geotechnical design/build contractor.

The company specialized in very challenging projects such as re-leveling the Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas during construction, to repairing nuclear submarine pens in Connecticut. They were called to assist at the World Trade Center immediately after the attack of 9/11 and carried out work there for over one year, and for many years on the rebuild.
He and his family became US citizens in 2004 as a direct response to the terrorist attacks of 9/11. In retirement he works for his wife at Across the Pond Bed & Breakfast, just a few blocks from the Museum; his greatest work challenge to date.

Ray’s of Sunshine
Ray’s of Sunshine, a Rowan County Nar Anon group, provides support for families and friends that either have a loved one battling addiction or have lost a loved one to addiction.
