SALISBURY — The Salisbury-Rowan Community Foundation is accepting applications from nonprofit organizations for its 2018 grants program.

Grants will be awarded for projects and programs that address a community need and benefit residents of Salisbury or Rowan County.

Priority will be given to projects and programs in the following areas:

• Arts and culture.

• Kindergarten-12th grade public education.

• Higher education.

• Environment.

• Human services.

• Animal welfare.

The foundation will award grants of as much as $10,000 to eligible organizations. Most previous awards range from $2,500 to $8,000.

Award amounts will be determined based on the merit of the project and available money. Applicants must be eligible organizations — nonprofit organizations, congregations, government and education institutions — located and serving Salisbury and Rowan County residents.

Completed applications must be submitted by noon Sept. 21. The system will not accept late submissions.
