ROCKWELL – N.C. Department of Transportation maintenance crews will close Emanuel Church Road between D Earnhardt Road and Old Beatty Ford Road near Rockwell starting Monday, Aug. 27, for pipe replacement work.

“There are four pipes, two that are rusted, one that has collapsed and one that is blocked, that need to be replaced along this stretch of road,” said NCDOT Transportation Supervisor Jamie Burkholder.

The portion of roadway closed at 7:30 a.m. and is expected to reopen, weather permitting, by 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31.

Motorists will be able to access the roadway up until the points of closure on either end and will utilize Old Beatty Ford Road, D Earnhardt Road and Emanuel Church Road to detour in both directions.

Transportation officials advise drivers to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
