Patterson honored as ‘mother of the church’
Mrs. Lizzie Stubbs Patterson of China Grove, NC was honored on Sunday, August 19, 2018 as “Mother of The Church” at Southside China Grove Church of God. Lizzie, who has celebrated her 85thbirthday, has been faithful in her attendance and service to South China Grove Church of God since 1962 when the current church sanctuary opened. Although a quiet humble lady, her love and servitude is felt by all who come in contact with her. In addition to her faithful service to the South China Grove congregation, Lizzie volunteers at the Southside Community Outreach of the church on Tuesdays by helping prepare a hot meal for those who come through the doors in need of assistance. She has helped at the mission since it opened in 2012. She serves as a volunteer at Liberty Commons Nursing Home by visiting, singing, praying and spending time with the residents. Lizzie, as was written in The Bible about Dorcas in Acts 9:36, is a woman full of good works and deeds.
Pastor Gloria Ross and Parish Nurse of the church presented Sis. Patterson a bouquet of beautiful fresh flowers and a certificate of appreciation.  Also, a luncheon was prepared for Lizzie, her four sisters from Laurinburg, NC, the church family and guest after the morning worship celebration service.
