Letter: GOP should court minorities

In the 1960s when Robert F. Kennedy was running for senator and president, he courted the minority vote. When Kennedy was senator, he went into a poor community like Bedford Stuyvesant and helped rebuild the community.
For years, Democrats have been better at reaching out to Latinos and African-Americans. The growing Hispanic electorate will be huge in the upcoming elections. Now it’s time for Republicans to go into inner cities and court minority votes. If the Republicans can make inroads in these communities, they will gain many votes.
By the way, I am an unaffiliated independent.
