Letter: New title for Clyde

Clyde — artist, historian, author, Biblical scholar, Latin student and now “prophet.”
He wrote in Sunday’s “Time Was” column: “Fame has given you an imperishable crown, it says on the Confederate monument base.” Written before the terrible deed to destroy art and community, his words were prophetic.
Fame — this work of art rivals Michaelangelo’s Pieta, holding her broken son, its beauty of love and sadness; Our Fame, holding a mother’s son, lifting his soul to heaven.
Revere art, let history guide us so as not to repeat mistakes.
Thank you citizens who rallied to clean this amazing lovely tribute for an icon of our city. Clyde, thank you!
