SALISBURY — The N.C. Highway Patrol has identified the 22-year-old driver killed in a two-vehicle collision on Sherrills Ford Road as Vincent Ryan Dziubczynski of China Grove.

Officials said Dziubczynski was traveling west Thursday evening when he crossed the center line and struck a tractor-trailer head-on. He was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze. The vehicle came to rest facing the opposite direction in the same lane.

According to a report, Danny Boyd Hilton, 53, of Salisbury, was driving the 2018 tractor-trailer for J.B. Hunt. Hilton was traveling eastbound and came to rest on the right shoulder.

The front of the Chevrolet was significantly damaged, and the tractor-trailer suffered damage to the front.

The crash occurred just before 4 p.m. not far from Long Branch Road. Fire officials had to detour traffic onto Long Branch while the Highway Patrol investigated the collision.

The patrol has not said what caused the collision.

Dziubczynski attended school in Rowan County and was employed at Freightliner. According to an obituary, his family said he never met a stranger, liked to cook and go fishing, and was a “kind soul.”
