The writer is responding to a story in Friday’s Post about an event she hosted, “Gardening for a cause; Coffee and Cutting to benefit animal rescue group.”

Thank you for Deirdre Parker Smith’s article and Jon Lakey’s photos last Friday. There were a lot of people here I did not know, and several told me they came because of the article.

So far we have raised a little over $7,400, but several friends are sending contributions we will get next week.  Looks like it will be $15,000 toward the new dog shelter after funds are matched.

It was the best Coffee and Cutting we have had — lots and lots of happiness in the garden.
