History is a subject in modern times that most people think is worthless. Many students in colleges and adults in everyday life dismiss what has happened in the past 242 years. Yet history is very important because if we don’t study history we will be doomed too past mistakes.

Without history how would we ever know what terrible conditions and hard lives Native Americans and African Americans lived? Would we know who Franklin Roosevelt and Martin Luther King Jr. were without the field of history?

Even if history isn’t your favorite subject or course of study think about how our past heroes shaped our present. Where would be if America had never declared their independence?
