New Extension agent will specialize in local food growers
Rowan County Cooperative Extension has hired Michael Fine as its agriculture and natural resource agent.
Fine has a bachelor’s degree in conservation biology with a concentration in wildlife science from North Carolina State University. His family owns Fine Farming Co., a small produce farm in southern Davidson County.
Fine has eight years of experience growing, selling and managing vegetables at local markets. His responsibilities at Rowan County Cooperative Extension will be to assist local fruit and vegetable growers in production, marketing, insect, disease and weed management, food safety and more.
In his free time Fine enjoys being active in his church and spending time with his wife, Janice, and their two sons, Obed and Lyle.
