Men’s Day at Jerusalem Baptist

First United Church of Christ, 207 West Horah St., welcomes Carl Boldt as guest musician on Sunday at the 11 a.m. service. Carl is a graduate of Catawba College with a degree in chemistry. He has been in many Piedmont Players productions and is currently a member of the St. John’s Men’s Chorus.

151st homecoming at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist

Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1920 Shirley Ave., celebrates its 151st homecoming on Sunday at the 11 a.m. service. Rev. James Isaac III, pastor of the New Hope Granville Missionary Baptist Church of Oxford, is guest minister.
Rev. Isaac, a graduate of NC A&T, Southeastern Theological Seminary and Shaw University Divinity School, is the Moderator of the East Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Association, the special assistant to the National Director of the National Baptist Student Union and a member of the General Board of the General Baptist State Convention of NC.
The late Rev. Harry Cowan, a former slave, founded Mt. Zion in 1867 and it is the second oldest church among African-American Baptists in Salisbury. Rev. Cowan’s contributions have been honored with a state historic marker on North Main Street.
Rev. Dr. Nilous Avery II is host pastor.
Dinner will be served following the service.

ROCKWELL — On Saturday, June 30 Rockwell United Methodist Church-The Golden Rule along with the Pete Livengood Sunday School Class host a free hot dog and hamburger dinner in the fellowship building at 5:30 p.m.; donations accepted.
Following the meal will be entertainment by John Rainey and his group of talented guitar pickers. There will also be a silent auction featuring hand crafted items made and donated by Robert File.

Cruise-in at Oak Grove

Word of Life Marriage Conference

The Marriage conference hosted by The Word of Life Family Worship Center, is titled “Keys to a Godly and Successful Marriage” and is led by Elder Allen and Dr. Stephanie Davis, founders of KISS (Keep It Simple Spouses). The Davises oversee the Marriage Ministry at Evangel Fellowship Church of God in Christ in Greensboro.
The Conference begins at 8:30 a.m. June 30 with a continental breakfast followed by sessions covering Why is Good Communication So Important and Why is it Such a Challenge, Finances-Wow!, Sex and Marriage, How to have a Godly Marriage, Raising Children in Blended Families and more.
The conference concludes on Saturday during the 10 a.m. service.
Registration is $25/couple on Saturday and includes a continental breakfast and conference materials. Pastor Martha and Elder Clinton Starks are host pastors.
