Lee Street auditions for ‘Steel Magnolias’
Lee Street Theatre will hold auditions for the premiere performance of Season 11, “Steel Magnolias,” July 1-2 from 7-9 p.m. The production will be directed by Kindra Steenerson, who also directed last summer’s “Dixie Swim Club” last August.
Be prepared to read from the script and work as a group. Director Steenerson is looking for six strong female actors who are as graceful as magnolias and as tough as steel.

Chaplain of the NY Yankees to speak to kids
Chaplain of the New York Yankees, George McGovern, will speak about the responsibilities of this generation as we impact our youth. He will at The Arbor UMC, 5545 Woodleaf Road, on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
This community event is sponsored by the Rowan-Kannapolis ABC Board and will be geared toward the County’s middle and high schoolers.

Faith’s annual street dance is from 7-10:30 p.m. on Saturday with entertainment by Wayward Reason.

On July 4th: The famous mile-long parade begins at 10 am. Festivities in the park after the parade include the singing of the National Anthem, introduction of dignitaries, crowning of Miss Rowan County Veteran, food booths and rides, ole timey games and other activities.
Faith Idol Finals begin at 7 p.m., bands at 8 p.m. Fireworks are at 10:30.

Salisbury Pride Festival is Saturday
Salisbury Pride’s 8th Festival is Saturday from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. with a full line up of entertainers and musicians, plus vendors of food, crafts and resources.
Musicians set to perform are local bands Divided By Four, Unisex and Fall For Nothing. Charlotte singer Christy Snow will play with her band. Singers Laura Vella, Tonya Wood and Shannon Lee will also perform.
The day’s entertainment will be co-hosted by hometown favorite Jamie Monroe and Delighted Tobehere, who has appeared on America’s Got Talent. A total of 14 entertainers will appear on two stages.
The Festival closes down the 100 block of E. Fisher Street and encompasses the Wallace parking lot between E. Fisher and Lee Streets. There will be an After Party Saturday night at The Fish Bowl from 7 p.m.-midnight; no cover charge.

Kannapolis African-American Museum and Cultural Center celebrates Black History on Saturday
KANNAPOLIS — The celebration at KAA-MaCC begins at 4 p.m. Saturday on the theme of African-American Businesses: Then & Now.
Speakers include Leslie Kesler, Lisa Brown and Stephen and Steve Shipp.
Memorial tributes will be made to KAA-MaCC’s Legacy Hall of Fame inductees George C. Knox, Milton L. Taylor and Ruth M. Curry. There will be entertainment and activities for the children, a vendors alley, and refreshments at the reception following the program.
Held in the Enrichment Center of Bethel Baptist Church, 1209 Opal St.
