Kannapolis man charged with cocaine trafficking

KANNAPOLIS — A Kannapolis man was charged this week with trafficking in cocaine after a 2017 sale of the drug to an undercover Rowan County sheriff’s deputy.

On Tuesday, Jacques Malic Pharr, 22, who was staying at a residence in the 100 block of Golding Drive, Concord,  was charged with trafficking in cocaine by possession, sale and transportation; conspiracy to traffick in cocaine; and possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine.

Authorities say on April 7, 2017, Pharr sold 1.5 ounces of cocaine to the undercover investigator in Kannapolis. Investigators had been trying to locate Pharr and learned that he was staying at the residence in Concord.

After surveillance of the residence, investigators identified Pharr and arrested him.

Investigators detected the odor of marijuana inside the residence and received consent to search it. Officers found a small amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and $21,079 in cash.

Pharr has a previous felony conviction for possession of a Schedule II controlled substance; misdemeanor convictions for failure to heed a blue light and siren; and assault on a government official.

Pharr has pending charges of hit-and-run, leaving the scene of an accident, driving while license revoked, felony probation violation, and misdemeanor assault on a government official.
