Johnson-Halsey Wedding

Alee Sharp Johnson of Salisbury and Mr. Philip Graham Halsey of Charlottesville, Va. were united in marriage, Saturday, May 12, 2018 at St. Francis of Assisi Chapel, Spring Island, S.C.

Dr. Randal Vance Kirby officiated the 5 p.m. ceremony, which was followed by a reception at The River House on Spring Island.

The bride was escorted by her father, Dr. Atlee Rollins Johnson III. Her matron of honor was her sister, Elizabeth Brooke Johnson Smith and her maid of honor was her sister, Ann Rollins Johnson. Her bridesmaids included Lauren Rebecca Abraham and Katherine Anne Zweier of Richmond, Va.; Alison Halsey Breeden, the groom’s sister; Sarah Lauren Garner and Susanna Eleanor Wooten, all of Charlotte; Annie Christian Gauf of Atlanta, Ga.; Caroline Hodges Gill and Karin Julia Lancaster of New York, N.Y.; and Erika Layne Nelson of Chicago, Ill.

The groom’s best man was his brother, Thomas Christian Halsey. Standing as groomsmen were Philip Marsh Baker; James Lawrence Lynde III; Thurston McCain Moore, brother of the groom; Thurston Roach Moore, stepfather of the groom; and John Miller Stillwell, all of Richmond, Va.; Brenton Shaw Halsey III of Philadelphia, Pa., brother of the groom; James Rosser Powell of Chapel Hill; and William Erich Schleier of New York, N.Y.

The flower girls were the bride’s cousins, Ann Caroline Hobson of Gastonia and Anne Louise Hobson of Asheville. The ring bearer was the bride’s cousin, Hunter Gard Hobson Jr. of Raleigh. The readers were Elizabeth Hewett Johnson of Smithfield and Caroline Gordon Perrin of Richmond, Va., cousins of the bride and groom, respectively; and Kristin Woodson Harvey of Beaufort. The program attendants were Jane Ivey Johnson and Lillian Wade Johnson of Smithfield, also cousins of the bride.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Atlee Rollins Johnson III of Salisbury and the granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. Jack B. Hobson of Charlotte and Mr. and Mrs. Atlee Rollins Johnson Jr. of Smithfield. Alee is a 2011 graduate of Salisbury High School. She graduated cum laude from Washington and Lee University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Studio Art. She is currently an artist running her business, Art By Alee.

The groom is the son of the late Brenton Shaw Halsey Jr. and Corell Halsey Moore and stepson of Thurston Roach Moore of Richmond, Va. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Brenton Shaw Halsey Sr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Philip George Luckhardt. He is a graduate of Princeton University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. He is manager of Sales and Distribution for Potters Craft Cider.

Following a wedding trip to Africa the couple will be at home in Charlottesville, Va.
