Letter: Value of school uniforms in question

Are school uniforms really beneficial to the student body?

The school uniform is an expensive type of product. It can cost $20 to $100 for just the polo shirts. Some parents can’t afford that. Actual school uniforms usually cost hundreds of dollars just for three months for some schools.

They say uniforms don’t keep the poor and rich split; they wear the same type of clothes and you can get them from mostly anywhere. Uniforms don’t let students express themselvesm and we students want that.

Uniforms may help for the long run, but we have a good bit of time till then.

“When you put on a uniform there are certain inhibitions that you accept.” This quote from Dwight D. Eisenhower means when you put that uniform on, you are growing up into a good young lady or gentleman.

It is necessary to have uniforms, but I think students should have a choice of particular polo colors, because some places have different prices for certain color polos.

Do you believe that school uniforms are good for you? It’s more of a personal opinion, but I believe there are more cons than pros for uniforms.
