Letter: How do we measure a man?
Published 12:00 am Thursday, May 3, 2018
Can a man be measured by the number of darts thrown in his direction, or by the number of slanderous words printed for public consumption? Is there a man who was most cruelly subjected to caricature during the last election cycle, in a manner I have never seen in my lifetime?
Is there a man who boldly speaks the faith of those who began this nation? Has this man always promoted the conservative ideals of low taxes and property rights?
Is this the same man who has served our county for several terms as county commissioner? If this man is willing to face all of these personal attacks and is still willing to serve the people of Rowan County, why would anyone not consider the man to be made of the stuff needed to endure public office?
If a man can be measured by those who attack and oppose him, Jim Sides is a giant of a man. Based on his past service, which is one of the best indicators of any man, he will get my vote to serve on the Rowan County Board of Commissioners.
