Letter: Gail Young could set things right

For the last four years, residents of (state House) District 83 have been misrepresented by Larry Pittman in our legislature. At last we have the chance to undo some of the damage with three candidates challenging his seat.
Of the three, Gail Young is the most qualified candidate for representing District 83, in my opinion.
Gail will work tirelessly to change the course of funding for our schools; reverse decisions that undermine attempts to protect, rescue and save our environment; expand health coverage for hard-working people struggling to make ends meet and work to put an end to the opioid crisis ravaging our communities.
Gail will also work to undo the voter suppression measures enacted by our current representatives. Gail believes strongly in One Voice=One Vote and will work to put an end to the gerrymandering that has created a legislature that does not fairly represent all North Carolinians.
Gail’s passion for the arts fuels a deep-seated commitment to restoring and expanding funding for our schools. Thanks to needless cuts to funding for our schools, district school Boards have been forced to make cuts to the cultural, and skill/trades programs that help create well-rounded students ready to be productive members of our community.
Thanks to Gail’s 26 years in Mecklenburg County government, she knows how to get things done and how to get people from different backgrounds to work together. She has coached leaders of Fortune 500 companies and government agencies in values-based leadership.
Gail’s strong faith fuels her belief that we are all responsible for making sure the hungry are fed and that our young and elderly are cared for.
Gail Young is the best candidate for representing District 83. I urge you to vote for her on or before May 8th to represent us in our State Legislature.
