SALISBURY – Livingstone College will host its Spring Open House on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Varick Auditorium.

Open house is an opportunity for students and their parents to learn more about the college, to visit with faculty and administration, and to get questions answered about admissions and financial aid, said Tony Baldwin, associate vice president for the Operations of Student Affairs, enrollment manager and PDSO officer for international students.

“It is a chance for them to get acquainted with us and our programs,” he said.

Check-in and refreshments will begin at 9 a.m. in the lobby of Varick Auditorium.

The Livingstone College Blue Thunder Marching Band will thrill, the cheerleaders will excite and the concert choir will inspire as each makes a presentation to the audience.

President Dr. Jimmy R. Jenkins, Sr. will bring remarks before the groups participate in breakout sessions that will include academics, financial aid and a tour of the college campus.

A showcase of campus life, spearheaded by Student Activities Director Anthony Brown, will begin at 12:30 p.m. Attendees will get a first-hand glimpse of student clubs and organizations, including presentations by Livingstone’s sororities and fraternities.

Tours will also be available of the Livingstone College School of Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts, located at 530 Jake Alexander Blvd. South. Transportation will be provided, if necessary.

“We welcome students and parents to our campus this Saturday as we showcase our wonderful programs, our rich history and our attractive campus life, where we’re small enough to know you personally yet large enough to serve you globally,” Jenkins said.

He also asked visitors to “pardon our construction as we are growing to serve you better.”

The campus is constructing the F. George Shipman Science Annex Building and is preparing to build a new athletic complex.
