Letter: Prison life can be dangerous
Published 9:25 pm Wednesday, April 18, 2018
I am writing this letter on the prison system. Don’t get me wrong — my son did wrong, but nothing really bad-bad. It was not a bad crime.
Since Oct. 31, 2017, he’s been moved five times. Why? What’s wrong with this picture?
One of the times he was moved to Lanesboro, in Polkton, which is on the news once a week.
My son’s crime was not a violent crime. Why a violent prison?
Now I hear on the news they’re making Lanesboro into a female prison. So what does that tell you?
I am sure lots of families feel the same way this one feels.
People need to watch out who they vote for. Something needs to be done.

Editor’s note: Dozens of officers and inmates have been attacked at Lanesboro, the state’s biggest prison, since it opened in January 2004.
