Icy road conditions prompt delays for Rowan County, Kannapolis schools

- JON C. LAKEY / SALISBURY POST Snow and Sleet was falling on Monday morning that forced early closings of Rowan-Salisbury Schools. Emergency personal responded to increasing calls for traffic accidents as the road conditions deteriorated quickly. Monday, March 12, 2018, in Salisbury, N.C.
Here is the latest information on school and college delays because of icy road conditions in Rowan and neighboring counties:
• Rowan-Salisbury Schools will operate on a two-hour delay Tuesday morning.
• Kannapolis City Schools will operate on a three-hour delay Tuesday.
• Iredell-Statesville schools are on a two-hour delay Tuesday.
• Stanly County schools planned to operate on a regular schedule Tuesday.
• Rowan-Cabarrus Community College classes will begin at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
• Catawba College remained open Monday.
• Livingstone College was closed Monday, but not announcement was made about Tuesday..
In other weather-related schedule changes:
• The Rowan County Chamber of Commerce canceled Monday night’s Business After Hours.
• Singer Destiny Stone’s “Nina Now” show was rescheduled from Monday night to 5:15 p.m. March 19 in Hoke Hall at Catawba College.
