The Rowan County Tea Party Patriots will sponsor “Corruption Inside the United Nations,” a presentation by former U.N. employee Peter Gallo, at 7 p,m. March 23.
Gallo will give a firsthand account of his time at the United Nations.
The program will be at Landmark Church, 1910 Mooresville Road.
Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, Gallo is a lawyer licensed practice in three countries. He holds a master’s degree in international criminal law.
Gallo spent 19 years as an investigator and leading authority on money laundering in Hong Kong. In 2011, he was recruited by the United Nations as an investigator in the Office of Internal Oversight Services in its investigations division in New York.
After his experience there, he became an outspoken critic of what he says was corruption in the United Nations. He testified before a congressional committee about what he says was a lack of accountability and the organization’s failure to address widespread sexual abuses in peacekeeping missions.
According to a news release, Gallo’s presentation will address “how the corruption is so deep-rooted that the organization is an unreliable source of information.”
Gallo will talk about his experience with United Nations’ roles in peacekeeping and human rights and how he believes its actions prolong conflicts and suffering and legitimize oppressive regimes.
Gallo’s message is part of the John Birch Society’s spring 2018 tour. The society, founded in 1958 and headquartered in Appleton, Wisconsin, is dedicated to restoring and preserving freedom under the U.S. Constitution.
Members come from all walks of life and are active throughout the 50 states on local, state and national issues. The group holds to strong beliefs in personal freedom and limited government.
Admission is free but donations will be accepted. Contact Steve Poteat at 704-633-7229 for more information.
