Letter: Bill Stanback was indeed ‘one of Salisbury’s angels’

Those of you who knew Bill Stanback and the Stanback family will wholeheartedly agree with Mark Wineka’s recent article, “He was one of Salisbury’s angels” (Feb. 9).
My father and I had the pleasure and privilege of knowing Bill Stanback for most of our lives. As a fellow Kiwanian, good friend, church and community leader, Bill joins other Salisburians — including but not limited to the Hurley and Ketner families — as some of our most outstanding citizens.
Bill was a true Southern gentleman in every respect. He never did anything for personal recognition or honor, but because it was the right thing to do. If you are aware of just one or two of Bill’s many contributions to Salisbury, you can multiply it by over hundreds of other anonymous or silent gifts he gave our community.
And if you knew Bill Stanback as well as we did, you will surely miss him. If you did not, you will most definitely benefit from all he did for his fellow citizens. Well done, our good and faithful servant.
