New Spring Exhibitions open at Waterworks Visual Arts Center, 123 East Liberty St., Feb. 10-May 25

What better way to welcome Spring than with an ART exhibition all about nature? The Language of Nature coordinates one group and two solo exhibitions, each expressing the phenomenal beauty of flora and fauna in our natural world. Twenty-five artists responded with 40 original works of art celebrating the architecture, memorial gardens, water features, strolling paths, and gathering spots that comprise the gift of Hurley Park to both residents and visitors of Salisbury. The Seasons of Hurley Park: 30 years is a special juried group show, complimented by archives and artifacts from the Elizabeth Holmes Hurley Park Foundation that will be presented in the Norvell and YPG galleries at Waterworks Visual Arts Center.

Fine art photography by renowned artist R. Wayne Wrights fills the walls of Stanback Gallery Hall in his exhibition, The Nature of Nature. Through Wayne Wrights’ lens, visitors will be drawn inside the habitat of deer intently marking their territory, to the treetops where owls watch for prey, and to frail tendrils that provide safe haven to butterflies.

Take A Painterly Walk Through the Woods in the Osborne and Woodson Galleries where painter Nancy Nieves’ color canvases, supported with sound, “create atmospheric mystery and travel.” “When I explore nature,” explains Nancy, “I mentally record what I see, and then go back to my studio and create my paintings. I have captured precious moments in time and transformed them into abstract compositions inspired by nature.”
