Letter: Russia deserves those sanctions

Lost in the haze of the news about the “memos” is something really more important — something of a more serious nature concerning our democracy. The White House has chosen not to establish further sanctions on a country that 17 intelligence agencies say corrupted our 2016 election. Yes, that’s right; Trump has decided to go against Congress and not put additional sanctions on Russia.

Let me remind you, the House voted 419-3 in favor and the Senate voted 98-2 in favor of these additional sanctions against Russia. And yet, with this overwhelming direction from the legislative branch of our government, the executive branch, Trump in fact, has chosen not to administer these sanctions.

With the enormous amount of actuality coming from the intelligence and legislative communities, it is unthinkable that Trump refuses to apply these sanctions.

Supporters of Trump have said there is “no there, there, or as some have called it, a “nothing burger.” If nothing else in the investigation has proved it true, this has. This is definitely collusion.

GOP, it’s time to stop the game and do the right thing for your, our, my country. Bring democracy back to the people and do it before it is too late.
