Catawba professor will speak Feb. 6 on Native Americans during Civil War
SALISBURY — Gary Freeze, a history professor at Catawba College, will be the guest speaker at a Feb. 6 meeting of the Boy Scouts’ Sapona Order of the Arrow Chapter. His topic will be “N.C. Native Americans and the Civil War.”
The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the St. John’s Lutheran Church’s Scout office, 201 W. Council St. The public is invited.
Topics Freeze hopes to cover are Native Americans’ status before the Civil War, the sides they chose, how the war affected them and their status after the war.
