Teen student chokes another student over school bus seat
MOUNT ULLA — A teenager choked another student in a dispute about a seat on a school bus, according to Rowan County authorities.
The victim, a 15-year-old girl, was grabbed around the neck, authorities said.
Daevonne Harris, 18, of the 100 block of Cedar Drive, was charged with misdemeanor assault on a female.
The incident happened Monday on the West Rowan High School bus while the bus was at the school.
The victim told authorities that before she was choked, she and Harris exchanged words about where they were sitting. He got upset because he couldn’t get the seat he wanted, according to the victim.
Harris was issued a $500 secured bond and has been released from the Rowan County Detention Center.
