SALISBURY — Salisbury police say a local man was seriously injured when he was thrown from his pickup in a single-vehicle crash at Rowan Mill Road on Monday.

Jerome Melton Blakeney, 57, of the 1600 block of Second Street, remained in critical condition Tuesday. He was flown to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.
Blakeney was traveling from South Main Street toward Sherrills Ford Road when he hit a patch of ice on a bridge. His 1986 Chevrolet truck overturned several times, and Blakeney was thrown from his pickup.
Police Lt. Greg Beam said Blakeney was traveling the posted 45-mph speed limit.
