Rowan weather: Still cold; did someone say snow?

We remain under a cold wave advisory, which means now is the time to protect your pipes by letting water drip. It’s also time to bring the pets inside and provide them with non-frozen water.

If you are going to be outside, wear several light layers, especially on top, and two layers to protect your legs. Hats, gloves and scarves are recommended throughout the week.

Today was going to be our warm day this week, but the high will be just 34. We’re staring out at 15 degrees, 10 degrees warmer than Tuesday.

Forecasters say there’s a 20 percent chance of snow showers after 1 p.m. The same chance hangs around until around 11 tonight. It will be cloudy, then clear, leading to a low of 17 with northwest wind at 3-8 mph.

Thursday will be sunny and very cold, with a high of 31 and northwest wind at 7-16 mph, gusting as high as 23 mph. The low will be 11, with continued northwest wind at 6-11 mph.

Friday will be sunny, too, with a high of 30 and west northwest wind at 5-9 mph. The low will be 11 again.

Saturday’s high will be 30 with sunny skies, and the low will be 12.

Sunday we have more warming, with a high of 37 under mostly sunny skies. The low will be 27.

And Monday has a 50 percent chance of rain and snow. It will be mostly cloudy and 48. The same chance of rain continues Monday night, with a low of 34.

Tuesday will have a 40 percent chance of rain and snow, too, and will be mostly sunny, with another high of 48.
