Rowan weather: Winter is definitely here

Mother Nature brought us winter for Christmas and the last week of the year.

Today will be cloudy in the morning, gradually clearing, and cold, with a high of 43.

Tonight will be partly cloudy and very cold, with a low of 26.

Not much change for Wednesday, except for mostly sunny skies and a high of 44. Winds will come from the north at 5-8 mph in the afternoon. The low will fall to 20 Wednesday night, with more north wind at 6-8 mph. Bring the pets inside or be sure your animals have a way to stay warm.

Thursday is the dicy day. It will be partly sunny and right at the freezing mark, 32, with northeast wind at 5-7 mph, a real arctic blast.

We’ll have a 20 percent chance of some sort of winter precipitation Thursday night after 10 p.m. The low again will be around 20. Forecasters are saying it is unlikely we’d get enough snow to stick to the ground.

Friday will be partly sunny and a bit warmer, with a high of 40. The low will be 22, with partly cloudy skies.

Saturday will be mostly sunny and 42, but the low will be frigid, around 19 degrees.

Sunday will be cold, with a high of 36 and mostly sunny skies. If you’re headed out to a New Year’s Eve party, bundle up, because the low will drop again to 19.

New Year’s Day will be partly sunny and oh-so-cold, with a high of just 34.
