School board meets Monday

SALISBURY — The Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education will hold its sole December meeting Monday.

The agenda for Monday’s business meeting is short, with an update from the Knox Center for Accelerated Studies and an update on class size mandates being the main discussion points.

According to an affidavit attached to the agenda, Rowan-Salisbury Schools has met new class-size requirements for kindergarten through third grade classes which were imposed by the state. The document also notes that some classes have been exempted from the statute via waiver.

The meeting will be in the Wallace Educational Forum board room, 500 N. Main St., and begins at 4 p.m. with closed session. Celebrations will be held at 5 p.m., and public comment at 6 p.m.
