Suspect arrested in murder at Laurel Point Apartments

Arrested

Terry Eugene Watson Jr.

Salisbury Police investigators have taken Terry Eugene Watson Jr. into custody this morning in Lexington.

He was wanted in the shooting death of Isaiah Mark Gillespie, 20, of Kannapolis. The murder occurred around midnight Tuesday.

The Police Department said Watson assaulted his former girlfriend Monday. The shooting was reportedly brought on by a dispute about a girlfriend.

Police said Watson shot Gillespie while he sat in a vehicle.

Officials said the shooting is not connected to last Friday’s fatal shooting at Taco Bell on East Innes Street or to any previous homicides this year.

Watson, also 20, lives at 708 N. Green St. He was served with warrants for murder, shooting into an occupied vehicle and assault on a female.

He was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under no bond. First appearance was set for Thursday, Nov. 9.
