Today: Rainbow Tea at Fairview Heights

Fairview Heights Missionary Baptist Church’s pastor appreciation committee is sponsoring a Rainbow Tea for Rev. Clarence E. Marlin and Evangelist Cathye Marlin today at 4 p.m. The location is downtown at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 200 W. Innes St., across from the Salisbury Post, in the fellowship hall. Use the parking lot off West Innes St.; the door and elevator will be on your right.

Today: New Voices of Faith

The New Voices of Faith of Mocksville will celebrate their 20th anniversary today at Henderson Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where Rev Perry Dye is the pastor. The program begins at 4 p.m. and is free. Featured groups will be The Mighty Pilgrimaires, Bro Ron Tyree & The Vessels of Faith, The Echoes for Christ and The Messengers for Christ. Roland Carter will emcee.

Sunday: Celebration at Pine Ridge Baptist

On Sunday Pine Ridge Baptist Church will be honoring Pastor George and Peggy Bradshaw for their 21-1/2 years of love, friendship and commitment to the church. They are also celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary.

The service will begin at 10 a.m. with music, followed by the morning message.

Lunch will be served in the fellowship building.

Trading Ford Baptist homecoming

Mt. Zion UCC

CHINA GROVE — During the 10:30 a.m. service at Mt. Zion United Church of Christ, 1415 S. Main St., Eddie Thompson will share a special Operation Christmas Child presentation. Mr. Thompson has been a year-round volunteer on the Operation Christmas Child Church Relations Team for 12 years. Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes will be available, and collection Sunday is Nov. 12.

A special Veterans Day meal in honor of our veterans will be held following worship in the new building.

All Saints Day at Gloria Dei

On Sunday at 11 a.m. Gloria Dei, 1908 Statesville Blvd., will celebrate All Saints Sunday with a special service of thanks for department church members who have joined the church triumphant within the past year.

The All In Bible study that focuses on generosity continues on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m.

Revival at Enochville Church of God

Revival services featuring The Blythe Family & Sister Rita will be held Sunday through Tuesday, Nov. 5-7, at Enochville Church of God. The Sunday services are at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Monday through Wednesday services are at 7 p.m.

Immanuel Lutheran to honor veterans and saints

ROCKWELL — Dr. Mark Beymer will be the special speaker for the Veterans and All Saints Sunday at the 11 a.m. service at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Dr. Beymer is a highly decorated Marine with extensive training in many military fields of expertise such as physical training, military strategy, weaponry, engineering and explosives and small unit tactics. Trained as a combat pilot to fly fixed wing and helicopter aircraft, Beymer flew combat missions in medical evacuations, logistical and reconnaissance missions in the far northern part of South Vietnam. Even after he was seriously wounded in action, decorated, and returning stateside for recovery, Dr. Beymer returned to do more tours of duty in service. After his military duty, he worked for more than 12 years with NASA. He currently holds positions in religious organizations, universities and civic organizations.

The congregation is asked to wear red, white and blue. Veterans are asked to wear a uniform or other insignia recognizing their branches of service. During the tribute to All Saints, Pastor Sheeks will pay honor to those who died during this past year.

Erwin Temple CME  Veterans Appreciation Day

Sunday morning worship at Erwin Temple CME, 155 Erwin Temple Church Road, starts at 11 a.m with Pastor Rev. Ervin L. Hannah Jr. giving the message. The Mass Choir will sing, accompanied by Minister of Music Harold Moore.

Lunch will be served at 1:30 p.m. Afternoon worship begins at 3 p.m. with guest speaker Rev. Paul Foust, associate minister of New Zion Baptist Church of Taylorsville.  We welcome anyone who has served in any branch of the Military. This appreciation service is given by the Board of Christian Education of Erwin Church.

Ursinus UCC 

ROCKWELL — On Sunday, Ursinus United Church of Christ, 116 West Main St., will be celebrating homecoming as well as observing a Service of Remembrance for the members and friends that have passed away this year. The service will be at 11 a.m. with Rev. Catherine Costello officiating. The Honorable John Holshouser will be the speaker.

147th anniversary at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian

WOODLEAF — Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church, 435 Carson Road, will observe its 147th anniversary on Sunday during the 11 a.m. service. Rev. Otto Gaither will preach the anniversary sermon.

John Marlin Sr. built the church’s first physical structure in 1870 at the Carson Road site.

Lunch will be served following the morning worship.

New Hope AME Zion 

New Hope AME Zion Church will observe its annual Women’s Day on Sunday at 3 p.m. Guest speaker is LaKesha Womack, AME Zion Church chair of Connectional Young Adults in Christian Ministries.

She is also a traveling minister in the South Alabama Conference of the Alabama Florida Episcopal District and is a member of the Young Adult Task Force for the Churches Uniting in Christ ecumenical organization.

Womack holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Vanderbilt University, is a graduate of the Women’s Campaign School at Yale University, serves as an ongoing participant in the Democratic Congressional Committee University, and has membership in Organizing for Action Fall Community Engagement Fellowship.

The women have been asked to wear white. Host pastor is Rev. Dr. Debra J. Hall.

Twelve Tribe Rally at Cedar Grove

The Twelve Tribe Rally at Cedar Grove AME Zion Church on Sunday is at 3 p.m. Evangelist Cathye Marlin, associate pastor of Fairview Heights Missionary Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker. Evangelist Marlin is the wife of Rev. Clarence Marlin, pastor of Fairview Heights. This program is being sponsored by the Cedar Grove Church Family.

Rev. Bertha Pittman is host pastor.

Anniversay at Solid Rock Church of God

Solid Rock Church of God will celebrate the tenth pastoral anniversary of its pastor, Rev. Samuel A. Washington, on Sunday at 4 p.m. A banquet will be held at The Heritage Room at Council Street Commons, 118 East Council St. The guest preacher is Rev. Cornelius N. Atkinson, pastor of Wilson Heights First Church of God, Charlotte.

Baptist Women’s World Day of Prayer

The Baptist Women’s World Day of Prayer, which is affiliated with the Baptist World Alliance, will meet Monday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 2300 Bringle Ferry Road.

We will be praying for women all over the world and will have people to represent some of these countries. On display in the sanctuary will be the flags of many countries.

The praise team from Trading Ford Baptist Church led by Devin Smith will provide the opening music. A theme interpretation will be presented by groups of women dressed in native outfits of countries representing all the continents.

Oscar Ramirez will have the closing message.

An offering will be taken for children of Liberia to have access to education, for rescuing girls and women from human trafficking, to fight against child labor and for feeding hungry children.

The Arbor

The Arbor United Methodist Church, 5545 Woodleaf Road, will have a special youth-led service at its 10:30 a.m. service on Nov. 8. There will be a blend of contemporary and traditional music and is titled “The Faith We Sing.” The Rev. Craig Sefa is host pastor.

Sandy Ridge Veterans To Sponsor Program

LANDIS — Military veterans of Sandy Ridge AME Zion Church, 1425 Mt. Moriah Church Road, will host a Veterans’ Day Celebration Program on Sunday, Nov. 12, starting at 3 p.m.

This program will feature special guest speaker Twila Adams of Charlotte, an Army veteran and a quadriplegic who also serves as a board member of Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA).

Adams is a very active sportsperson who enjoys competing annually in the National Veterans Wheelchair Games across the nation.

Rev. Clarence J. Shuford Jr.  is host pastor.
