100th Birthday: Lillian Barnes

Lillian Barnes, lifelong resident of Landis, will be celebrating her 100th birthday on October 29, 2017 at her home with friends and family, including her son, Billy Barnes, her two granddaughters and two great grandsons.

Lillian is the only daughter of five children born to Ross and Cellie Freeze Daugherty.  She was close to her four brothers, Walter “Mope,” David, Raymond and Floyd Daugherty, all of which have passed.  Lillian atributes her long life to working as a retail salesperson until she was 82 years old, 36 years at Belk and 18 years at Virginia’s.  In her retirement, she enjoys watching all sports, particularly the Atlanta Braves.
