Staff report
The Intergenerational Financial & Lifestyle Empowerment Conference will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Salisbury Civic Center, 315 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave.
A light breakfast and lunch will be provided to participants in this free conference, which is sponsored by Families and Communities Together (FACT) and AARP.

The conference will include financial workshops for people of all ages, covering topics including basic savings tips for children, a better understanding of credit and how it relates to homeownership, and preparing for employment in the digital age.

Health screenings also will be available.

AARP says it offers free and unbiased information to help people plan and save so they can have independence as they get older.

FACT, based in Salisbury, focuses on the whole family with emphasis on spirituality, education, recreation, mentoring and job preparation by providing programs and shared resources to enhance the quality of life.

The conference is for ages 6 to seniors. A sitter service will be available for children 2 to 5.
“Last year the conference was a huge success, and this year we are anticipating even more to join us,” a FACT news release said.
Experts from AARP, the city of Salisbury’s Community Development program, Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and Wells Fargo will be on hand for the workshops.
Door prizes will be awarded, including gift cards from $25 to $100.
Registration is free. The deadline is Monday. Call 877-926-8300 or go to https://aarp.cvent.com/NCFall2017 to register.
Free city bus vouchers for transportation to and from the conference are available. Church vans also can be called on.
