Letter: Clyde is a friend and local treasure

The best thing to happen to the Salisbury Post in the last 20 years is the writings of Clyde, “Time Was.”
Clyde and I met while we worked for Eller-Wood Florist in the early 1970s. The things I have learned from Clyde have remained with me my entire life.
When there is an event in Salisbury, he calls to make sure I know about the next play, or a new exhibit at the museum and the lectures coming to the library, the October Tour, new stores and restaurants that have opened downtown, and not to forget the bottle show, the Civil War and antique shows at the mall.
Our shared interests in antiques, decorating and flowers is a learning, rewarding, adventure. Clyde is my mentor and my friend.
We have loaned, swapped, bought, bartered and borrowed a variety of items from each other to get the right “look” for the time period we are trying to achieve and have fun times doing it!
It is with the utmost respect and gratitude that I am writing about my friend Clyde. His friendship has remained constant as it was some 40 years ago.
Salisbury, North Carolina, you have a true patriot, historian, artist and teacher living in your city.
Clyde has spent his life educating, preserving and pursuing, all while keeping the faith and staying the course.
Clyde, artist, my friend, who resides in Salisbury, North Carolina.
