Lilly’s Chapel Music Workshop scheduled for today has been canceled.

 

TODAY: Men’s Fashion Show

EAST SPENCER — Fairview Heights Missionary Baptist Church Usher Board presents a Men’s Fashion Show today at 3 p.m. at the Guiding Light Convention Center, 308 Boundary St., East Spencer. Admission is $4 for adults, children ages 5-12 years $2. The models are Kyle Carr, Jaquis Clinding, Keith Bost, Anthony Jones, Timothy Bridges, Dekarris Brooks, Gregory Brown and Oriyan Summers. Refreshments will be served. Host pastor is the Rev. Clarence E. Marlin.

 

Mason to be installed as pastor at Tower Of Power

The Tower of Power Church family will be celebrating the first pastoral anniversary of its pastor, Rev. Damien M. Mason today and Sunday.

A pre-anniversary service is today at 5 p.m. with guest speaker Rev. Dwight Moore, pastor of Disciples of Christ Outreach Ministry, Charlotte.

On Sunday at 11 a.m. Rev. Michal Swinney, associate minister of Ellerbe Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Rockingham, will speaker at the anniversary service.

Also, on Sunday at 4 p.m. Rev. Mason will be officially installed as the pastor of the Tower of Power UHC. Bishop Gregory Hargrave, second vice-president of the United Holy Church of America Inc. and president of the Western NC District Convocation, will be the speaker. Bishop Hargrave pastors Gospel Tabernacle United Holy Church, Burlington; the Western NC District Choir will provide music.

 

New London UMC at Morrow Mountain

New London United Methodist Church will worship on Sunday at Morrow Mountain State Park in the picnic area past the swimming pool parking lot, at 10 a.m. Daniel Dickens will lead the music, and Rev. Jim Pyatt will preach. Following the service there will be a covered dish luncheon.

 

Mt. Moriah celebrates 193 years

CHINA GROVE — Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church, 750 Mt Moriah Church Road, will hold its 193rd homecoming celebration on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Guest pastor will be Bishop Tim Smith of the NC ELCA Synod. Following worship is a picnic lunch at Efird’s Shelter on the church grounds. Joseph Tallent is host pastor.

Bishop Smith is a native of Salisbury, and is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill (M.A.), Gettysburg Seminary (M.Div.), and Drew University (DMin.).

 

Third Creek AME Zion homecoming

CLEVELAND — Third Creek AME Zion Church will celebrate homecoming on Sunday beginning at the 11 a.m. service.

At the 3 p.m. service the guest preacher is Rev. Bobbie Samuels, pastor of South Iredell AME Zion of Troutman.

Revival services are Oct. 10-12 at 7 p.m. with the following guest speakers:

Tuesday, Rev. Dr. Calvin Miller, presiding elder of the Winston-Salem District;

Wednesday, Rev. Steven Howard, pastor of Watkins Chapel AMEZ Church of Mooresville;

Thursday, Rev. Clarence Marlin, pastor of Fairview Heights Baptist Church.

 

The Vineyard pastoral anniversary

The Vineyard Worship Center, 2655 Dunns Mountain Road, will celebrate Pastor Alice Houston Perry, founder and pastor of the Vineyard, on her fourth pastoral anniversary on Sunday. Vineyard will have a “Lord Clean this House” program at 11 a.m. with speakers Minister Sheila Bush, Minister Lasheka Leazer White, Minister Tangela Phillips-Lane, Minister Onjria Bost Steele, Elder Phydesia Lewis, and Minister Christopher Sherrill.

Pastor Vincent Tillman Sr., pastor of Life Giving Church of God, Concord, will be the 3 p.m. speaker.

 

Revival at Homestead 

KANNAPOLIS — Revival at Homestead Baptist Church, on the corner of West 22nd and Hwy 29-A , runs Sunday through Thursday and features Randy Perry and Mary Lynn Perry. Services on Sunday are at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Monday-Thursday services are at 7 p.m. The Perry Family will be singing on Thursday at 7 p.m.

 

Sherrills Ford Road Baptist revival

Revival begins at Sherrills Ford Road Baptist Church, 6455 Sherrills Ford Road, on Sunday at 11 a.m. continuing at 6 p.m., and on Monday through Wednesday, Oct. 9-11, at 7 p.m. There will be special music during revival.

 

Baptism at Immanuel Lutheran

ROCKWELL — Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2070 Emanuel Church Road, will celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Baptism during the 11 a.m. service. Holden James Standish, infant son of Kelly and Kendra Evans Standish, will be baptized by Rev. Bruce C. Sheeks, pastor. Following the service is a reception given by the members of the Irene Beaver Circle.

 

Dorsett Chapel UCC celebrates 104 years

SPENCER —Dorsett Chapel UCC is celebrating its 104th church anniversary on Sunday at 3 p.m.. Rev. Patrick Tate, pastor of Southern City AME Zion Church of East Spencer, is the guest speaker.

 

God’s Tabernacle honors Golden Agers

ROCKWELL — God’s Tabernacle for Believers Ministry, 304 W. Main St., will honor its Golden Age Disciples on Sunday at 3 p. m. Guest speaker will be Dr. Samuel Thompson Sr., founder and pastor of New Beginning Baptist Church, Clover, S.C. Reginald McConneaughey Sr. and Frenchie McConneaughey serve as pastor and co-pastor.

 

Providence AME Zion Women’s Day

Providence AME Zion Church, 2415 Providence Church Road, will celebrate its annual Women’s Day on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. The speaker for the occasion will be the Rev. Mia Butler of Greensboro. Host pastor is Rev. Zacharias E. Allen Sr.

 

Lutheran Chapel celebrates 227 years

CHINA GROVE — Lutheran Chapel Evangelical Lutheran Church will celebrate its 227 anniversary Sunday at the annual homecoming service with Rev. Constance Garrett, former interim pastor, as guest preacher.

Pastor Garrett, a native of Ohio, graduated from the University of Miami of Ohio and received her Masters of Divinity degree from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio. She presently resides in Liberty with her husband, the Rev. John Mark Beam, pastor of Low’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Following the service is a covered dish luncheon. Rev. Susan M. Bame is host pastor.

KANNAPOLIS — The Piedmont Singing Men will be performing a gospel concert on Sunday at 6 p.m. at Bethpage United Methodist Church, 105 Friendly Ave.

 

Neel Road Baptist news

This month we Neel Road Baptist will be participating in Operation Christmas Child in conjunction with Samaritan’s Purse, hoping to exceed its 2016 contribution of 288 shoe boxes for needy children worldwide.

On Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 5:30 p.m. Jerry Church of Kannapolis will provide special music for Fun & Fellowship.

 

Gloria Dei WELCA party 

Gloria Dei Lutheran Church’s WELCA ladies will host their annual party Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Trinity Oaks. If not already turned in, church members are to bring small gifts to church Sunday morning. Residents of Trinity Oaks are invited to celebrate “Everybody’s Birthday” by playing Bingo. The church is located at 1908 Statesville Blvd.

Lilly’s Chapel Church of God will have a Building Fund Service on Friday, Oct. 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the church, 618 W. Thomas St. Guest speaker will be Rev. Nathan Bratton, pastor of Ardis Chapel AME Zion. Host pastor is Dr. Doris Clawson.

Music will be rendered by the Ardis Chapel AME Zion choir.

Immanuel Presbyterian homecoming

CHINA GROVE—On Sunday, Oct. 15, homecoming will be celebrated at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 365 Brown Road. The service will be at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Bradley Trick bringing the message.

Dr. Trick is assistant professor of New Testament at Hood Theological Seminary. He earned a BA degree from Harvard University, and received a MDiv and a ThM from Regent College in Vancouver, British Columbia. He completed his PhD in New Testament at Duke University.

Dr. Bill Dailey and Eleanor Dailey will be leading special opening music involving the congregation, as well as presenting an anthem and offertory music.
