Letter to the editor: Calling a penalty on the media

Thank you, Kathryn Dews, for your Sept. 28 letter to the editor. I agree; however, along with not watching football anymore, I would like to add another idea. Tell the media to stop writing and/or talking about the NFL football players and their opinions on anything but what is pertinent to their job.

This topic, because they (the media) noticed Kaepernick taking a knee for the national anthem, decided his feelings/views are very important to the rest of us. Personally, if that is how he wants to demonstrate his feelings, that is fine with me; it is his constitutional right. But the media’s coverage of this one single event has really given him and everyone else that supports his view a huge platform. Just like the energizer bunny, it just keeps going, going and going.

I am so tired of hearing how the NFL, NBA, and movie stars feel about everything. I do not care. I am trying to pay my taxes, make a living, and help my children and grandchildren have a better life than I did, which I may add, may never happen because of wages that do not increase with inflation. This nation should be focused on many, many, many other problems we have.
