Letter: For the good of ‘America the Beautiful’

All Washington politicians should read the words of the song “America the Beautiful.” These words were written by Katharine Lee Bates after a trip to the top of Pikes Peak, Colorado, in 1893.

With the acrimony that is going on in Washington, D.C., it would behoove all of the PC politicians to read the words of this inspiring song.

Six times it repeats the words “God shed his grace on thee.” It also has these words: “Who more than self their country loved.”

Do Washington politicians love their country more than self?

And these words: “‘Til selfish gain no longer stain the banner of the free.”

It is time for Republicans, Democrats and independents to come together for the good of the American people.
