SALISBURY — Salisbury police say a local woman out for a lunchtime walk Tuesday had to dive for cover after being caught in the crossfire of a drive-by shooting.

The 55-year-old woman told police she was walking during her lunch break when someone began firing from a vehicle toward a home at 1523 N. Main St., at the corner of 15th Street, said police Capt. Shelia Lingle.

The woman and other witnesses said they saw a light-skinned black man with dreadlocks hanging out the passenger side widow of a vehicle and firing a gun.

The gray vehicle was believed to be a Nissan, police said.

There were people sitting on the front porch of the home who also ran for cover.

Neither the woman nor the people on the porch were wounded, Lingle said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Salisbury Police Department at 704-638-5333 or Salisbury-Rowan CrimeStoppers at 866-639-5245.
