CHINA GROVE — Franklin Gover started work this week as the town’s assistant manager.

Gover, 31, started work Monday in the newly created position. He formerly worked for the Rowan County Planning Department.

As part of China Grove’s contract with county government, Gover did planning work for the town.

In the new job, he will work in a number of areas, including planning.

Gover said he is excited to work in different areas of town government. He said the job is a good fit and a great opportunity for him.

Gover has a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Appalachian State University. His bachelor’s degree is in community and regional planning. His master’s degree is in public administration.

He had worked for the Rowan County Planning Department for three and a half years.

Town Manager Ken Deal said China Grove is pleased and excited to have Gover as its assistant manager.

Initially, the town sought to hire a full-time planner. With Gover’s hiring, Deal said, that plan has changed.
