SALISBURY — Democrats from two congressional districts plan to gather in Salisbury next month for a joint town hall meeting.

The town hall, organized by Democrats from the 8th and 13th congressional districts, will be Sept. 21. The location and time have not been announced.

Democrats from the two congressional districts announced the town hall meeting Wednesday, shortly after Reps. Ted Budd, R-13, and Richard Hudson, R-8, visited the N.C. Transportation Museum in Spencer.

“For far too long, Reps. Richard Hudson and Ted Budd have failed to complete the most important part of their jobs as our representatives in Washington: listening to our concerns as their constituents,” a news release said.

The Democrats contrasted the visit to the Transportation Museum with proposed cuts to transportation programs that Budd and Hudson have not spoken out against.

At the Sept. 21 town hall, Democrats will talk about cuts to economic development programs and access to good transportation, the news release said.

Candidates for the 8th and 13th congressional district seats also will speak.
