Letter: These are our leaders?

I am appalled by the rhetoric I am hearing from Republicans and their outcries of how the events in Charlottesville, Va. are outrageous. Republicans tried to take health care away from 22 million people, probably causing some of them to die. Republicans voted to take away Medicaid and thereby sending thousands of people needing constant care out of care facilities and into the streets, again causing many to die.

These Republicans are trying even now to suppress your freedoms by illegally fixing voting precincts to a majority of their candidates, an issue that has been ruled unconstitutional, in case you forgot. Republicans — including Burr and Tillis and Budd and Hudson — want to put oil rigs off our majestic Outer Banks. Imagine one day, going to see the horses of Corolla and they are covered in oil, some probably lying dead near the beach or the lighthouse with a petroleum ring around it.

These Republicans have allowed the EPA to rescind clean air and clean water mandates, polluting our lungs and the wildlife of the area. These Republicans in public refuse to refute a man that has no morals or people values unless you are very, very wealthy.

If you agree with how these heartless people feel, then I am truly sorry for you. This is not what America is. We are better people than the 36  percent that believe in this cruel America.

Look inside you, deep inside you, and find that good and stand up to these people that want to take away our American freedoms, our American values.
