Messiah Lutheran 

On Sunday, Messiah Lutheran Church, on the corner of Lafayette Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., will celebrate its 75th anniversary. Messiah was first organized in 1942 under the name of Bethel Lutheran Church, but changed to Messiah a year late as there was already a Bethel Lutheran in Rowan County. Current pastor Rev. Don Safrit will deliver the homecoming message at the 11 a.m. service. There will be no Sunday School. A covered dish dinner will be held afterward.
