School Tools Drive

Communities in Schools of Rowan County will participate in the annual School Tools Drive, sponsored by WSOC-TV Channel 9.  This year marks the 20th anniversary of the drive which last year collected 814,500 items which were distributed to more than 180,000 students in the 20 county WSOC viewing area.

Communities in Schools of Rowan County collected more than 24,000 items of school supplies for children in need during the 2016 drive.

Local businesses, churches, and civic groups are invited to participate in the Rowan County School Tools Drive that will begin Aug. 1 and end Aug. 20.

Saturday, Aug. 19 is a U.S. Postal Service Collection Day. Salisbury and Rowan County residents can place school supply items at their home mailbox. Letter carriers will pick up items and contribute them to the Rowan drive.

Clubs and ‘Cue

Rowan Partners for Education will hold its second major “Clubs and ‘Cue” fundraiser Saturday, Aug. 19. Held at Warrior Golf Club in China Grove, the golf tournament and dinner event seeks to raise money to fund “mini-grants” for innovative Rowan-Salisbury School teachers.
