Jerusalem Baptist Church 

SPENCER — Jerusalem Baptist Church, corner of Long St. extension and Long Ferry Road, will celebrate the 16th anniversary of its pastor, the Rev. Dr. David L. Bracken and First Lady Jackie Bracken.

The event is today and Sunday. Today beginning at noon is a day of games, prizes, a water -slide, a cookout and a fish-fry.

On Sunday during the 11 a.m. service, the Rev. Serenus T. Church Jr., pastor of High Street Baptist Church in Roanoke, Va., will be the speaker. Rev. Church is a native of Yonkers, N.Y. Dinner will be served following the morning service which will highlight Jerusalem’s journey, then and now.

Moore’s Chapel AME Zion Church, 5890 South River Church Road at the corner of Cool Springs, will hold an appreciation service at 5 p.m. today.

The service is an appreciation musical program and service for the Rev. Eddie L. and Mrs. Barbara E. Fortson, featuring local groups.

Sunday morning worship will be held at 11 a.m. and will feature speaker Elder Kevin Stockton from Freedom United Church of God. Also on Sunday, there will be a service at 3 p.m. featuring the Rev. Harold Jordan, pastor of Third Creek AME Zion Church of Cleveland.

The Usher Board of Henderson Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 888 Henderson Grove Church Road, will celebrate its anniversary on Sunday at 3 p.m. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Derrick Hawkins, pastor of The Refuge of Greensboro. The Rev. Perry Dye is host pastor.

Lilly’s Chapel Church

Lilly’s Chapel Church, 618 W. Thomas St., will celebrate its 102nd anniversary on Sunday, at 3 p.m. The speaker is the Rev. Reginald McConneaughey, pastor of God’s Tabernacle for Believers in Rockwell.

Erwin Temple Church 

The Pastor’s Aide Ministry of Erwin Temple Church, 155 Erwin Temple Church Road, will present the annual Twelve Tribes of Israel program on Sunday at 3 p.m. Guest churches are invited to help represent the Tribes. Each church group will represent a different Tribe. Gospel singing will be rendered by the church groups during the afternoon. Host pastor is the Rev. Ervin L. Hannah Jr.

Oak Grove Baptist Church

CHINA GROVE — Oak Grove Baptist Church, at 1205 S. Main St., will be observing its annual Women’s Day on Sunday beginning at 3 p.m. The speaker will be Sister Delores Dalton, from Yadkin Grove Baptist Church. Host pastor is the Rev. Dr. Keith Curry.

Early worship services in Old Historic Organ Lutheran Church will begin in June at 8:30 a.m. They will run every Sunday in June. Organ Lutheran Church is located at 1515 Organ Church Road.

Sherrills Ford Road Baptist

Sherrills Ford Road Baptist Church, 6455 Sherrills Ford Road, will be in revival on Sunday at 6 p.m.; and Monday through Wednesday, May 29-31, at 7 p.m.

The preacher for each night will be Dr. James Stephen Sells, a Salisbury native, who has retired as director of missions for the Randolph Baptist Association, Asheboro, and returned to Salisbury as president and CEO of Operation Transformation Church Revitalization. Host pastor is Travis Connor.

Piedmont Singing Men rescheduled

KANNOPOLIS — The Piedmont Singing Men concert, originally scheduled for May 28 has been rescheduled for June 25 at 6 p.m. The concert will be held at North Kannapolis Baptist Church, 312 Locust St. They will be performing a patriotic concert. Everyone is invited to this free concert.

The Arbor UMC

On May 21, The Arbor United Methodist Church, 5545 Woodleaf Road, honored members who are graduating. Honored were Amanda Barbee, who is graduating from Davie County Early College High School; Elijah Brown, graduating from West Rowan; Britney Callahan, graduated from NC State; Lauren Gaskill, graduated from Catawba College; and Britan Schenk, graduated from the University of Kentucky. Frank and Mary Gordon are the host pastors.

In My Father’s House

In My Father’s House, led by the Rev. Roosevelt Jenkins, meets the first two Thursdays of each month from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. The next services will be June 1 and 8 in the Hurley Room at Rowan Public Library.

St. Luke Missionary invites participants 

St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Hawkinstown is celebrating the anniversary of its Gospel Choir on Saturday, June 3 at 4 p.m. All interested groups, soloists, praise dancers are invited to present a selection or two.

CLEVELAND — Third Creek Presbyterian Church, 2055 Third Creek Presbyterian Church Road, will host a spaghetti dinner Saturday, June 3 from 4-8 p.m. Eat in or carry out. Donations will benefit the restoration of the TCPC Session House.
