Concord teen charged following fatal accident

CONCORD — A man has been charged in the death of another man in an accident in Concord.

Oskar Axel Prudente-Arellanez, 17, was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle after an accident last Saturday at the Warren C. Coleman Boulevard and U.S. 601 (Old Charlotte Road).

Concord police officers responded to a crash involving a moped and a vehicle. Prudente-Arellanez of Concord was driving a 2005 Infiniti G35 north on Warren C. Coleman Boulevard.

Theodore Earl Renz, also of Concord, was driving a 2016 Daix-Huzho Dai moped west on Old Charlotte Road. The investigation showed Prudente-Arellanez went through a red light and collided with the moped.

Renz was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. He died May 22.

Prudente-Arellanez was not injured.

He was charged May 23 and was given a $10,000 secured bond.
